On Monday, February 13th, 2023, at 4:12 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported traffic offense that had just occurred at New Life Christian Center, 2918 W Tuolumne Rd, Turlock, after a man had been seen recklessly driving around the parking lot with a flat tire and honking his horn.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man later identified as Somsack Keovilayphone, 36, of Elk Grove, near a vehicle with a torn-off tire. When Keovilayphone noticed the officers, he began running towards the freeway.

Keovilayphone eventually stopped by the large cross next to the freeway and decided to climb up on its post, putting his arms up as if he were Jesus and beginning to yell for help and a supervisor.

After a few minutes, additional officers arrived on scene and were able to detain Keovilayphone without further incident.

Keovilayphone was displaying objective symptoms of being under the influence, so he was arrested.

Keovilayphone was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of public intoxication.
