Jaws: Kaepernick “One of Greatest Quarterbacks Ever”

|

Could Colin Kaepernick be the best NFL quarterback of all time?

Famed former Pro Bowl Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and current ESPN NFL analyst Ron “Jaws” Jaworski thinks so.

“I truly believe Colin Kaepernick could be one of the greatest quarterbacks ever,” Jaworski said on ESPN Wednesday. “I love his skill set. I think the sky’s the limit.”

Jaworski ranked Kaepernick as the eleventh best quarterback in the NFL earlier in the preseason. Kap, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback and a Pitman High School graduate, has all of the skills to be one of the leagues best, but only needs more experience, Jaws said.

Kaepernick, humble as always, shrugged off the compliment during a Wednesday press conference.

“To me, it's a great honor that he said that, very flattered by it,” Kaepernick said. “But at the same time, I haven't played a full season yet.”

Jaworski's remarks come as EA Sports reveals player rankings for the “Madden NFL 25” videogame. Kaepernick was in the running to be the cover star for the game, but lost out in an online fan vote.

Kap earned an 89 overall score, good enough to tie for sixth best quarterback with the Washington Redskins' Robert Griffin III and the Seattle Seahawks' Russell Wilson. Kaepernick also ended last season with an 89 overall score, increased gradually from his starting “Madden NFL 13” score of 80.

Kap earned high marks of 88 in speed, 91 in agility, 93 in ball carrier, and 96 in throw power. His injury resistance, stamina, and toughness – 95, 96, and 94 respectively – are also among his best attributes, per the game.

But Turlockers are likely to be upset with one new addition to Kap's “Madden NFL 25” profile: a listing of his hometown as Milwaukee, Wisc.

Though Kaepernick was born in Milwaukee, he has lived in Turlock since he was four years old, and played his high school football as a member of the Pitman Pride. Madden games did not previously list hometowns.
