Jeff Denham Post Honors the Sacrifices Made on D-Day

United States Representative – District 10 Jeff Denham reminded followers of the sacrifices that troops made in World War 2 on D-Day. Today marks the 72 year anniversary of the day that changed the course war. 

On June 6, 1944 more than 160,000 allied troops stormed the shores of Normandy in the largest land, air, and sea invasion in history. According to the U.S. Army’s webpage, over 9,000 Allied soldiers lost their lives but Allied forces were able to establish a foothold in Continental Europe.

Recognized around the world, D-Day is remembered as a turning point and crucial moment in history as well as the beginning of the downfall of Nazi Germany. Many people commemorate this day because of the great sacrifices made by Allied forces, which included American troops.

Representative Jeff Denham, posted a picture on facebook to commemorate those who served on D-Day. A week after the Memorial Day Service in Turlock, Representative Denham still honors the sacrifices made by those who fought in the war.

Today we honor those who changed the course of history forever on the beaches of Normandy 72 years ago.”

“We thank them for their sacrifice.”
