Job Watch: Denham to Host May Job Fair

U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) announced the 2015 Central Valley Job Fair and Veterans Summit, to be held May 7.

“This year’s job fair provides an opportunity for jobseekers to meet one-on-one with some of the Valley’s largest employers,” said Denham.

During the fair, there will be opportunities for individuals to submit job applications to employers, have resumes critiqued by experts, participate in breakout sessions, and learn about starting a business.

“As Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties continue to face too-high unemployment rates, this event is one way to bridge the gap between potential employees and employers so we can get Californians back to work,” said Denham.

The event will take place on May 7 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Sportsmen of Stanislaus Club (SOS) at 819 Sunset Ave. in Modesto. Veteran admission will begin at noon and general admission at 12:30 p.m.

Many successful Central Valley organizations have joined a growing list of attending employers including E&J Gallo Winery, Blue Diamond Growers, Lawrence Livermore National Labs, BNSF Rail Company, UC Merced, Morning Star Company and Lock-N-Stitch.

The Central Valley Job Fair and Veterans Summit will be held in conjunction with the Stanislaus Business Alliance, the Alliance Small Business Center, the Alliance Worknet, CALVET, the Central Valley Human Resources Management Association, the Employment Development Department, Gallo Vets, the Heavy Equipment College of California, the Stanislaus County Veteran Employment Committee, the Vet Center, Wells Fargo Bank, and Work for Warriors.
