At about 9:49pm Tuesday, Turlock Police responded to a robbery that had just occurred at Jack in the Box in the 2600 block of Geer Road.

The caller reported that someone had run up to the drive-through employee and grabbed a handful of money from her while she was handing it to a customer, before fleeing behind the business onto W. Minnesota Avenue.

Officer Alberti arrived in the area and contacted two juveniles in front of Save Mart, one of which matched the suspect description. After being told he was lawfully detained for an investigation, the matching juvenile took off from Alberti and a foot pursuit ensued.

Eventually, the juvenile gave up and surrendered behind Save Mart. He was proned out at gunpoint until additional officers arrived on scene and assisted with detaining him.

The juvenile was arrested for resisting and transported back to the front of Save Mart, while Officer Lawrence contacted the victim at Jack in the Box. The victim was walked across the street and positively identified the juvenile as the suspect in an in-field show-up.

During the incident, the victim’s arm struck the drive-through window frame, causing an injury.

The arrested 16-year-old white male juvenile and the other one who was with him were both determined to be unreported runaways from a local group home. The second one made it away before additional officers could arrive and was later reported as a runaway.

The 16-year-old was booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on charges of robbery and resisting a peace officer.
