At about 1:05am Thursday morning, Turlock Police responded to a larceny from a vehicle in progress at a residence in the 500 block of Seaborg Street, after a caller had reported that she had interrupted four subjects taking a tire and rims off her vehicle.
Officers were nearby and arrived in the area within about a minute of the call. When they arrived, they received information that the subjects had fled the area in a small sedan southbound on Andre Lane.
About a minute later, Officer Gursky observed two subjects jump a fence near Danny Avenue and Rochelle Avenue.
An uninvolved citizen then saw one of those two subjects run northbound across the 600 block of W. Tuolumne Road and go northbound on Murray Street. He began following the subject and called police dispatch to relay the information.
The citizen lost the subject at Dels Lane and W. Minnesota Avenue after he had to turn his vehicle around to continue to follow.
A few minutes later, Sergeant Lewis located the same subject in the same area and detained him. He was identified as a 15-year-old Hispanic male of Turlock, who resides at a home that police regularly respond to for disturbance and gang-related type issues.
The 15-year-old detainee was found to be in possession of lug nuts.
The 15-year-old was arrested and booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall on charges of attempted grand theft and conspiracy.
The other three subjects involved, including the second one who was seen jumping a fence, were unable to be located.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist in it is encouraged to call Officer Manuel Ayala at 209-668-1200.
