Kaepernick to Pose Nude for ESPN

Colin Kaepernick is one of 20 athletes who will pose nude for ESPN The Magazine's annual Body Issue, the magazine announced this week.

Kaepernick, a Pitman High School graduate and the quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, said he hopes the photo shoot will help redefine how people think about quarterbacks.

“I'm not your typical quarterback,” Kaepernick told ESPN The Magazine. “I don't like when people say, 'Quarterbacks aren't supposed to run' or 'Quarterbacks aren't supposed to work out a certain way.' Quarterbacks can still have good bodies. I'm always conscious of the stereotype. I want to change what people think. There's a lot more to it than what you see on the field.”

The Body Issue has been published annually since 2009, focusing on athletes' physique and body issues. Famous athletes from every major sport have been featured in a mix of tasteful nude and partially nude poses.

Also featured in The Body Issue will be fellow 49er Vernon Davis, as well as Miami Marlins standout Giancarlo Stanton, Denver Nuggets power forward Kenneth Faried, and golf legend Gary Player.

The Body Issue includes an in-depth interview with Kaepernick about his workout regimen, his body, and his family.

In the interview, Kaepernick says he took only one week off after the Super Bowl before getting back to training.

“Will I be faster this year?” Kaepernick told ESPN The Magazine. “You'll just have to wait and see.”

The 2013 edition of the Body Issue will be published on July 12.
