The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the bicyclist killed in a Monday evening accident as Jose Borges, 39, of Hilmar.

Borges was hit and killed Monday evening while riding westbound on Fulkerth Road near Bystrum Road in Turlock. Borges was riding in the westbound lane, when Diane Medina, 34, driving a 2010 GMC, collided with Borges, throwing him off his bicycle and to the shoulder of the road.

Medina did not see Borges till she was a short distance away and did not react in time to avoid the collision.

Mayra Medina, 28, driving a 2004 Honda, noticed the GMC stopping abruptly and pulling to the shoulder when she hit the bicycle that was in the westbound lane.

A passing motorist stopped to help remove the bicycle from underneath the Honda and all three returned to original collision scene and located Borges.

Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures on Borges, but he had sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
