At about 2:42am Saturday, Turlock Police responded to a trespass in progress at a residence in the 1400 block of Cahill Avenue.
The caller reported their ex-roommate, Fernando Garcia, 36, of Turlock, was in the backyard and they believed he’d just been released from jail.
Officers were familiar with Garcia’s hostility toward law enforcement, resisting history, and previous canine apprehension, so they requested a deputy sheriff with a canine respond.
While standing by for the canine, Garcia climbed over the backyard fence where he was met by three officers. Officers approached Garcia with lethal and less-than-lethal weapons.
For a few seconds, Garcia was passively resistive, but quickly realized he was outnumbered and gave up.
Garcia was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of trespassing.
