A duo was arrested on multiple charges after they were caught in the middle of a theft at Kohl’s on Jan. 29.

Katherine Adams, 56, was arrested and cited for theft and possession of methamphetamine. Gabriel Murillo, 38, was arrested for false identification to a police officer, an active parole revocation warrant, and driving with a suspended license.

According to Turlock police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis, Adams had shoplifted numerous items, but was confronted by loss prevention at the store shortly after 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Once confronted, Adams handed back the items, according to Lewis. Murillo then drove Adams away in a vehicle.

Turlock police performed a traffic stop after responding to Kohl’s on the report of the theft.

At the time of the stop, Murillo gave officers a fictitious name, possibly to avoid authorities finding the warrant, said Lewis.

Upon discovering his true identity, officers found that Murillo had the warrant and a suspended license and was subsequently arrested.

Adams was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested for that as well as the theft.
