Farmer and business owner Heath Flora has thrown his hat in the ring to fight for the 12th Assembly District seat that will be vacated by Assembly Republican Leader Kristin Olsen (R-Modesto) when she terms out in 2016.

Flora serves as the Director of International Sales for Exact Corp., a family-owned business that manufactures products for both nut harvesting and forcible entry equipment for firefighting. He also owns Golden Valley Equipment which buys and sells used agricultural equipment, and is a local farmer and has been a volunteer firefighter for 15 years, he said.

“After spending 15 years protecting families and their property, I am excited to take the next step in public service to build a better future for Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties," said Flora in a news release.

Flora pledges to “fight groundwater regulatory schemes that will allow government bureaucrats to stop pumping water that’s needed for crops and livestock,” according to a news release.

According to Flora, his experience is fit for a time when water and jobs are key issues in the Central Valley.

He is endorsed State Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres), who formerly represented Turlock. Flora is married to his wife Melodie and has two children, Lacey and Paris.
