“Loverboy is a strong addition to this year’s concert series,” said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair. “Their energetic 80’s hits will bring nostalgia to our concert lineup.”

The band formed in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and found immediate success with their 1980 self-titled album. Loverboy’s 1981 album “Get Lucky” became the best selling album in the U.S., while their 1983 album” “Keep It Up” and 1985 album “Lovin’ Every Minute of It” both went double-platinum.

Loverboy won six Juno awards, the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy award. The band was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2009, recorded the official theme song of the U.S. Olympic Team in 1984, and performed at the 2012 Vancouver Olympics awards ceremony.

Loverboy will play at 8:30 p.m. on July 17 on the Bud Light Variety Free Stage. The concert is hosted by The Hawk 104.1 FM, and is free with the price of fair admission.
