Major League San Jose Earthquakes to Play Sac FC at Stanislaus State

|

There is a major league earthquake coming to Turlock on Wednesday.

The San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer will host their final preseason game against their newest minor league affiliate, the Sacramento Republic FC, at California State University Stanislaus’ Warrior Field March 5. The game will kick off at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the exhibition match will be on sale at the gate on the day of the game for $25. Tickets will be available for advanced purchase in the City of Turlock’s Recreation Office, 144 S. Broadway, on business days between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Last week the Earthquakes announced a partnership with the City of Turlock and CSU Stanislaus to field a Turlock-based team competing in the United Soccer Leagues Premier Developmental League, equivalent to “Single-A” soccer. The under-23s team will play its home games at CSU Stanislaus’ Warrior Field, and will practice at the Turlock Regional Sports Complex.

Season tickets, including admission to all seven PDL games and Wednesday’s MLS exhibition, are $50. Season tickets are available at the City of Turlock Recreation Office.

The Earthquakes have been busy in the Valley, which is believed to be one of the nation’s hottest soccer spots to develop future talent.

In January the Earthquakes announced a landmark partnership with Sacramento Republic FC to make the first-year club their USL-PRO affiliate. As part of the agreement, San Jose will loan a minimum of two players to Sacramento for the duration of the 2014 season, with an option to recall those players. The match in Turlock will be the first game for the Republic FC.

The San Jose Earthquakes are one of Major League Soccer’s top teams. The Quakes won the MLS Cup in 2001 and 2003, and won the MLS Supporters’ Shield, an award for the best regular season record, in 2005 and 2012.
