Man arrested after assaulting Carl’s Jr. employee and fleeing from police Thursday night

On Thursday, September 9th, 2021, at 8:10 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported disturbance in progress at Carl’s Jr., 2980 Geer Rd, Turlock. The caller was an employee from the business who reported that there was a subject, later identified as Ulises Moreno, 39, of Delhi, in their drive-thru creating a disturbance and refusing to leave.

As officers began to arrive on scene, Moreno noticed them and took off. Officers pulled behind Moreno and activated their emergency lights and sirens, however, Moreno refused to stop. Moreno led officers behind Raley’s and In-Shape Health Club, eventually bringing them out onto E Minnesota Ave. Moreno continued driving until pulling into a driveway of a residence in the 2000 block of N Denair Ave, colliding with a curb in the process.

Once Moreno pulled into the driveway, he exited his vehicle and began running on foot, however, he was quickly captured by officers.

Officers went back to Carl’s Jr. to conduct an investigation into what had happened there and learned that Moreno attempted to batter an employee through the drive-thru window after not being satisfied with their service.

Moreno was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of flight from a peace officer with disregard to public safety, driving while intoxicated, resisting a peace officer, driving with a suspended license, and assault.
