Man arrested after being caught driving stolen U-Haul truck Wednesday morning

On Wednesday, September 21st, 2022, at 11:42 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of W Main St and northbound State Route 99, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.

The officer made contact with the vehicle’s driver and identified him as William Green, 23, of Turlock.

The vehicle that Green was driving was a U-Haul truck, which have been recently being stolen and used by criminals nationwide, so the officer began investigating the U-Haul’s registration status. The officer discovered that the license plate on the U-Haul did not belong to that specific one, and upon further investigation, discovered that the U-Haul had been reported stolen to the California Highway Patrol earlier in the day.

Green was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving or taking a vehicle without the consent of the owner and possession of a stolen vehicle.
