Man arrested after being caught in stolen box truck Monday night

On Monday, May 30th, 2022, at 11:57 pm, a Turlock Police officer near Neto’s Catering, 1318 N Golden State Blvd, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.

Whenever officers conduct a traffic stop, they give their dispatcher their location and the license plate of the vehicle that they’re stopping. The dispatcher informed the officer that the plate he had given returned to a 1974 Dodge van, however, the vehicle stopped was a 2006 Ford box truck. The officer obtained the vehicle identification number from the box truck and provided it to his dispatcher to run, and it returned as a stolen vehicle.

The vehicle’s driver, Jose Manuel Navarro Camarillo, 28, of Mexico, was immediately detained for further investigation.

When Navarro was ran, he returned with three misdemeanor warrants.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that Navarro knew or should have known that the vehicle was stolen.

Navarro was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving a vehicle without a valid driver’s license and receiving a stolen vehicle and his warrants.
