Man arrested after breaking into home and being spotted on live surveillance feed Friday night

On Friday, June 2nd, 2023, at 9:00 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported burglary at a residence in the 600 block of Twentieth Century Blvd, Turlock, after a woman who was not home had seen a man on a live surveillance feed attempting to kick in her front door.

The caller then stated that the man had successfully forced entry and that her husband and his friend were almost at the residence.

Officers arrived on scene within minutes and found no one at the residence, however, received an update from the caller that her husband and his friend had chased the man to the Walgreens parking lot where he had brandished a knife at them.

Officers arrived at Walgreens and contacted the three near the pharmacy drive-through, detaining the suspect, Jose Rodriguez, 35, of Turlock.

When officers had their dispatcher run Rodriguez, they discovered that he was on probation for carrying a concealed dirk or dagger and obstructing or resisting a public officer in the discharge of their duty.

Officers began investigating and determined that no property had actually been taken from the residence and neither was a knife brandished, however, there was damage to the residence’s front door frame from forced entry.

Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of attempted burglary.
