Man arrested after breaking into home armed with knife early Tuesday morning

On Tuesday, January 18th, 2022, at 3:14 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported residential burglary in progress at a residence in the 600 block of Shadowview Ct, Turlock. The homeowner, who was home at the time with his wife, was alerted by their Ring app that someone had just entered their home.

The homeowner immediately made his way to his garage, where he found the suspect, later identified is Edvard Yengejeh, 30, of Turlock, exiting through the roll-up door. The homeowner confronted Yengejeh in the driveway, at which point Yengejeh brandished a knife at him and ran away.

While all this was going on, the homeowner’s wife was on the phone with dispatch reporting the incident and providing updates as everything was going on.

When officers arrived in the area, they found Yengejeh in the 3000 block of Andre Ln still armed with a knife. Officers ordered that Yengejeh drop the knife, which he did, and he was taken into custody at gunpoint without further incident.

Yengejeh was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of burglary and brandishing a weapon other than a firearm.
