Man arrested after imprisoning and robbing estranged girlfriend early Sunday morning

On Sunday, December 12th, 2021, at 1:00 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported prowler at a residence in the 700 block of S Rose St, Turlock, for a suspicious person knocking on a window.

When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with the suspect and discovered that she was actually the victim of a crime who was trying to get help.

Officers began investigating and discovered that Ildefonso Herrera, 40, of Patterson, was the victim’s estranged boyfriend and that he had held her against her will, made threats of violence towards her while holding a firearm, and robbed her.

Officers were able to find out what kind of vehicle Herrera drives and went to check a residence where they suspected him to be at for the vehicle. Officers located the vehicle in front of the residence and conducted surveillance on it for a while.

Eventually, officers observed Herrera exit the residence, get into his vehicle, and begin to drive off. Officers followed Herrera to the area of S Golden State Blvd and Griffith Ave, where they ultimately made a high risk stop on him and took him into custody without further incident.

Herrera was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of robbery, making criminal threats, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, possession of a loaded firearm while possessing a controlled substance, unlawfully concealing a firearm, false imprisonment, brandishing a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
