On Thursday, April 13th, 2023, at 5:53 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of S Center St and Crane Ave, Turlock, observed a driver blow through a stop sign at a high rate of speed, so he attempted to make a traffic stop on him.

The driver, later identified as Erik Standley, 23, of Modesto, failed to stop for the officer and accelerated to about 80 miles per hour while continuing southbound onto Paulson Rd.

Standley continued blowing through several other stop signs and eventually pulled into Accelerated Construction and Metal, his place of employment.

With the assistance of other officers, a high-risk stop was conducted and Standley was arrested.

The pursuit lasted about two minutes, reaching speeds of up to 80 miles per hour and covering a distance of just over two miles.

Standley was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer in a vehicle with disregard for public safety.
