Man arrested after leading officers on pursuit and rolling vehicle over Thursday night

On Thursday, May 5th, 2022, at 8:59 pm, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of W Main St and N Soderquist Rd, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he attempted to make a traffic stop on it, however, it failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.

The vehicle went eastbound on W Main St before attempting to turn southbound onto Locust St where it lost control, struck a guy-wire, and rolled over.

The vehicle’s driver, Isaiah Singh, 23, of Turlock, and his passenger, Marlo Variste, 28, of Turlock, then leg bailed from the vehicle. Both were quickly apprehended without further incident.

It is currently unknown if Singh suffered any injuries, however, Variste suffered minor injuries. He was ground transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital.

The vehicle sustained major damage and was deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring it to be towed away.

The Turlock Irrigation District was called out to the scene to conduct repairs on the guy-wire.

Singh’s motive for fleeing remains unclear as neither he nor Variste had any warrants, there was nothing of interest inside the vehicle, and the vehicle was not stolen.

Singh was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of flight from a peace officer with disregard to public safety, hit and run involving injuries, resisting a peace officer, and violation of probation.

Variste was arrested and released on a citation on charges of resisting a peace officer.
