On Friday, March 17th, 2023, at 1:21 am, a Turlock Police officer near the 1500 block of Lander Ave, Turlock, came upon an abandoned residence with smoking coming out of its chimney.

Additional officers responded along with the Turlock Fire Department.

Firefighters assisted officers with making access into the residence where they found and detained Robert Pereda, 29, of Turlock.

Firefighters then extinguished a small fire in the fireplace.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Pereda had previously been trespass admonished from the residence.

Pereda was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of trespassing.
