On Thursday, May 12th, 2022, at 12:52 am, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of Porsche Strasse and N Walnut Rd, Turlock, observed a motorcycle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.

The officer made contact with the motorcycle’s rider and identified him as Timothy Shaw, 23, of Turlock. The officer had his dispatcher run Shaw and he returned to be on probation for driving under the influence of drugs. He also had a suspended or revoked driver’s license and a non-extraditable warrant out of Texas for robbery.

As part of Shaw’s probation terms, he, his property, and anything in his immediate possession can be searched at any time and any peace officer. A probation search of Shaw’s person led to the discovery of a loaded handgun and narcotics.

Shaw was briefly questioned and he stated that he had found a backpack lying around in the parking lot of a local business about an hour prior. He stated that in the backpack, he found a variety of items, which included the loaded handgun and narcotics. He stated that he took the loaded handgun and narcotics and left the backpack and the rest of its contents behind.

Shaw was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or person addicted to a narcotic, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of a controlled substance while armed.
