At about 5:10pm Wednesday, Turlock Police and American Medical Response responded to an aggravated assault that had just occurred at a residence in the 2100 block of Sorrel Drive.

The caller reported there were several subjects involved, including one who’d been stabbed.

Officers arrived on scene and detained several subjects, but didn’t find a stabbing victim.

The investigation revealed there’d been an ongoing feud between two households on the same block, when one of the neighbors drove his vehicle by the other neighbor as he was exiting his vehicle. As the first neighbor drove by, he would slow down and then speed off, causing tire marks to be left in the roadway. This occurred at least two, possibly three times. During the last time, the second neighbor threw a beverage can at the first neighbor’s vehicle, striking one of its rear-view mirrors.

Afterward, the second neighbor decided to confront the first neighbor’s father at his residence. This resulted in a fight breaking out between numerous family members from both households.

As a result of the fight, one of the involved parties, Stephen Mendoza, 28, of Turlock, was arrested.

Mendoza was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of battery inflicting serious bodily injury.

Additionally, misdemeanor charges were recommended to the district attorney to be filed against the other involved parties.
