IMG_9105-1

At about 8:55pm Saturday night, Turlock Police responded to a battery that had just occurred inside the Walmart at 2111 Fulkerth Road.

The caller reported that a man had attacked a security guard after possibly attempting to steal from the business.

Officer Juan Arroyo arrived in the area a few minutes later and contacted Luther Brookins, 32, of Merced, who matched the suspect description, near the Arco gas station in the shopping center.

Through the investigation, it was determined that Brookins had actually successfully stolen a tent and attacked a security guard while being confronted.

Being that Brookins used force against a victim in the commission of a larceny, he had committed a robbery.

Brookins also had a $2,000 misdemeanor bench warrant for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater.

Brookins was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of robbery, as well as his warrant.
