Man arrested after second La Cantina shooting occurs this year early Saturday morning

On Saturday, February 5th, 2022, at 1:26 am, a Turlock Police officer near La Cantina, 142 S First St, Turlock, heard sounds of gunshots coming from the business. Within a few seconds, a gray Honda SUV drove past him and he noticed the vehicle’s passenger extend his arm out the window while holding a firearm and fire off several shots into the air.

As additional officers arrived in the area, they conducted a high risk stop on the vehicle at Arco AMPM, 210 N Golden State Blvd. The vehicle’s driver and passenger were ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint and taken into custody without further incident.

The vehicle’s passenger was identified as Gerardo Flores, 22, of Turlock.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and a firearm was located underneath Flores’ seat. The firearm was loaded and stolen.

Flores was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of negligent discharge of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm without a permit, and carrying a stolen loaded firearm.

The vehicle’s driver was released.

No injuries were reported.
