At about 9:29pm Friday night, Turlock Police responded to a reported shoplifting that had just occurred from Famous Footwear at 2810 W. Monte Vista Avenue.

As Officers were responding, they were advised that a male and female were involved and that they were in a white Chevrolet pickup truck in the Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot.

As Officer Aziz arrived in the area, he spotted a matching vehicle at Countryside Drive and W. Tuolumne Road leaving the area, so he made a traffic stop on it.

Inside the vehicle, Aziz contacted Ishmele Brewer, 43, of Livingston, however, the female who was also reportedly involved was no longer with him.

Brewer matched the given description of the male and there were several shoeboxes in plain view within the vehicle, so he was removed from the vehicle and handcuffed for the investigation.

During the investigation, Officers recovered six stolen shoeboxes, a loaded and unregistered Taurus 9mm handgun, and a couple of license plates that weren’t associated with the vehicle, at least one of which was confirmed to be stolen out of Merced.

Brewer was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of conspiracy, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, petty theft, buying or receiving stolen property, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.

The female that was with Brewer was never located, Brewer’s vehicle was impounded, and the stolen shoes were returned to the business.

Great work Officer Aziz and those who assisted!
