At about 7:44am Tuesday morning, University Police and Turlock Police arrived at a residence in the 1600 block of Arlington Court to conduct follow-up in a burglary investigation.
The burglary had occurred at the Demergasso-Bava Hall on the CSU Stanislaus campus over the holiday break and officers had obtained a search warrant for the residence in connection to the investigation.
During the service of the warrant, officers contacted several people, including their suspect, Sanchez Angelo, 37, of Turlock.
Officers also recovered personal property stolen from employee offices, University keys and electronic equipment, tools used in the commission of the burglary, and a firearm not involved in the burglary that had its serial number altered.
Due to being a convicted felon, Angelo was prohibited from possessing firearms.
Angelo was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of conspiracy, burglary, buying or receiving stolen property, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon or person addicted to a narcotic, altering a firearm’s mark of identification, and committing a felony while on bail or release.
Brown Elementary School was briefly placed on lockdown due to its proximity to the residence. No staff or students were harmed.
