Man arrested for DUI after being found in vehicle blocking the roadway with consumed alcoholic beverages early Tuesday morning

On Tuesday, September 20th, 2022, at 2:53 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported suspicious vehicle in the 1200 block of Milhous St, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a vehicle blocking the roadway near the dead end of a street with a man inside of it. Officers contacted him and he identified himself as Jeremias Carlos Perez, 40, of Turlock.

Officers noticed that Perez was exhibiting objective symptoms of being under the influence, so they asked him if he would be willing to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. Perez agreed, however, was unable to complete them due to his level of intoxication.

Ultimately, based on the objective symptoms that Perez was exhibiting, his inability to participate in the standardized field sobriety tests, the fact that he was sitting inside of his vehicle blocking the roadway near the dead end of a street, the fact that there were opened and consumed alcoholic beverages in his vehicle, his statements, and the totality of the circumstances, officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol.

Perez was arrested and provided an evidentiary breath sample at the scene as required by California’s implied consent law. The results of the breath sample revealed that Perez had a blood alcohol content of .29.

Ultimately, Perez was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving under the influence, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater, and driving with a suspended driver’s license due to a DUI conviction. He was also issued an administrative driver’s license suspension order by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and his vehicle was impounded.
