Man arrested for robbery after swiping pair of scissors at grocery store loss prevention Thursday night

On Thursday, May 18th, 2023, at 8:28 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported robbery that had just occurred at Walmart Neighborhood Market, 2480 Geer Rd, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, they contacted and detained three individuals, including Michael Sandoval, 38, of Hayward.

Officers began investigating and learned that Sandoval had entered the business, selected merchandise, and was preparing to walk out without paying. While doing so, Sandoval was stopped by loss prevention who told him that he needed to give the merchandise back. Sandoval then reportedly pulled out a pair of scissors, told loss prevention to get back, and swiped them at him before exiting the business, throwing the stolen merchandise into a vehicle and beginning to walk away.

Sandoval was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of robbery.

The other two were released.
