Man arrested in early Sunday morning road rage incident

On Sunday, September 5th, 2021, at 12:42 am, a Turlock Police officer at the intersection of W Tuolumne Rd and N Golden State Blvd, Turlock, on-viewed two vehicles, a pickup truck and a sedan, run the red light traveling southbound on N Golden State Blvd. The officer then on-viewed the pick-up truck rear end the sedan at a high rate of speed.

The officer activated his emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to pull over the pickup truck. The pickup truck yielded, pulled over, and then its driver, later identified as Tyler Walton, 26, of Delhi, exited the vehicle and began walking towards the officer in a hostile manner. The officer drew his gun and pointed it at Walton, giving him several orders. Walton originally did not comply.

Eventually, as other officers began to arrive on scene, Walton did comply and was detained in handcuffs.

Officers then began interviewing all involved parties and determined that the incident stemmed from reckless driving that had occurred on State Route 99. Both vehicles had exited State Route 99 at W Monte Vista Ave and continued to N Golden State Blvd and W Tuolumne Rd where the officer had ultimately on-viewed and intervened in the incident.

Walton was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of aggravated assault and resisting a peace officer.
