On Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023, at 7:32 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a panic alarm at Balboa Park, 1360 Shady Ln, Turlock.

While officers were responding, they learned that the victim had triggered her panic alarm because her ex-boyfriend, Golden Dupree, 29, of Turlock, was inside of her apartment vandalizing things. They also learned that he was wanted on two different cases.

The first case that Dupree was wanted for was from back in March for stalking and threatening to commit a crime which will result in death or great bodily injury to another person, while the second was from the night prior for domestic violence inflicting corporal injury, threatening to commit a crime which will result in death or great bodily injury to another person, child abuse or endangerment under circumstances likely to produce great bodily harm or death, battery, and drawing or exhibiting a firearm in a rude or threatening manner.

During the incident from the night prior, Dupree, the victim, and their child together had gone out together to get food. While Dupree was getting food, the victim and their child fled from him in a vehicle and called police. The victim told police that she had Dupree had been estranged for a period of time, however, she had been allowing him to stay with her for the past week. During that time, he had physically and verbally abused her and their child.

When Dupree realized what was going on, he walked back to the victim’s apartment, threatened to kill her dog, and took down her cameras. Officers arrived at the apartment and attempted to contact Dupree, however, he refused to come to the door so officers left and put the wants out on him.

This time, officers surrounded the apartment, set up a perimeter, and began negotiations with Dupree. After a brief standoff, they were able to get him to surrender.

Dupree was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of stalking, two counts of threatening to commit a crime which will result in death or great bodily injury to another person, domestic violence inflicting corporal injury, child abuse or endangerment under circumstances likely to produce great bodily harm or death, battery, and drawing or exhibiting a firearm in a rude or threatening manner.

“Our staff is dedicated to providing for the safety of our residents, holding criminals accountable, and seeking justice for all victims,” said Turlock Police Lieutenant Russell Holeman. “The police department would like to thank any affected or displaced residents for their patience as we worked to ensure the safety of all involved in this incident,” he continued.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist in it is encouraged to call Detective Brandon Bertram at 209-664-7323.
