At about 1:09am Saturday morning, Officer Mulhim observed and got out with an occupied suspicious vehicle parked in the 100 block of W. Main Street.

As Mulhim attempted to make contact with the vehicle’s occupants, one of them, later identified as Luis Garcia, 26, of Turlock, got out and began to walk away.

After Garcia was given several lawful orders to stop, he took off running and a foot pursuit ensued.

Garcia ran behind the bars and then to S. Broadway and Market Street, where he was ultimately apprehended with the assistance of other officers.

Officers then contacted, identified, and detained two other subjects who were still in the vehicle that Garcia had run from, including Hilberto Adams, 32, of Turlock.

When officers had their dispatcher run the three, they discovered that Garcia had a $500,000 felony Ramey warrant out of Merced for committing a lewd or lascivious act with a child under the age of 14, while Hilberto was on parole for robbery.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle that the three had been in, officers located narcotics.

Officers called Adams’ patrol agent and informed him of what had occurred. The agent found that there was probable cause a violation of parole had occurred, so he authorized that Adams be held until a parole revocation hearing can take place.

Garcia and Adams were both arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center, Garcia on the charge of resisting a peace officer, as well as his warrant, and Adams on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamines, and violation of parole.

The third subject was released as he hadn’t committed any crimes.
