Man arrested on narcotics charges after waving knife around at diner employee early Friday morning

On Friday, August 19th, 2022, at 1:49 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported weapon offense in progress at Denny’s, 1991 Lander Ave, Turlock, where a man was waving a knife around at an employee.

Officers arrived on scene within less than a minute and found the suspect, Oscar Vasquez, 28, of Turlock, still in the parking lot. Vasquez was detained at gunpoint for further investigation.

Officers began investigating and learned that Vasquez was known by employees to burglarize vehicles. When an employee stepped outside of the business for their break, Vasquez took out a knife unprovoked and began waving it around at them.

The victim did not want to be a victim, however, Vasquez was found to be in possession of methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia. He was also exhibiting objective symptoms of being under the influence of drugs and was determined to be unable to care for himself due to said intoxication.

Vasquez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamines, and public intoxication.
