Man arrested on three felony warrants after leading officers on foot pursuit Wednesday night

On Wednesday, August 31st, 2022, at 10:38 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported robbery that had just occurred at Walmart, 2111 Fulkerth Rd, Turlock.

Officers arrived on scene and began investigating, learning that a woman who was shoplifting from the business had assaulted an employee in an effort to exit the business after being confronted by them about her shoplifting.

The woman had left prior to officers’ arrival, however, they contacted Jarred Elkins, 27, of Turlock, at Arco AMPM, 2301 Fulkerth Rd, after he was suspected of being associated with the woman.

Officers had their dispatcher run Elkins and he returned with five warrants, the first was a local $300,550 felony one for attempted burglary and burglary, the second was a local $200,550 felony one for robbery, the third was a local felony $100,550 one for vandalism and animal cruelty, the fourth was a local $100 misdemeanor one for possession of a controlled substance, and the fifth was a $25,500 one out of Modesto for shoplifting and possession of a controlled substance. He also returned to be on parole for maliciously discharging a firearm from a vehicle at another person other than the occupant of a vehicle.

When officers told Elkins that he was under arrest for his warrants, he began fleeing on foot. A short foot pursuit ensued which ended with Elkins still being arrested.

A search of Elkins incident to arrest led to the discovery of narcotics.

Elkins was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of obstructing or resisting a peace officer or other public officer and possession of a controlled substance, as well as his warrants.
