On Sunday, November 13th, 2022, at 4:13 pm, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of W F St and B St, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.

The officer made contact with and identified the vehicle’s driver as Pablo Flores, 46, of Turlock.

When the officer had his dispatcher run Flores, he returned with two local misdemeanor bench warrants. The first one was a $2,500 one for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater, while the second one was a $3,550 for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater, and driving without a valid driver’s license.

No big deal, right? Wrong. Both warrants were issued way back in 2005, 17 years ago! The strange thing is that according to court records, Flores was arrested at least three times after both warrants were issued, once in 2014 and twice this year. One of the arrests was for a different bench warrant that was issued this year. He was also issued a traffic citation in 2020. It remains a mystery how these two warrants were not discovered during several previous contacts with police.

Flores was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on his warrants.
