At about 11:41pm Tuesday night, Turlock Police responded to a possible burglary in progress to a vehicle at the Safeway in the 3000 block of Countryside Drive.

The caller reported seeing a man with a flashlight digging through items in a vehicle, throwing some items out of the vehicle.

Officers arrived on scene and located both the man and the vehicle in question, along with a female companion.

Both subjects were asked to identify themselves, but the man identified himself as his brother.

Through the investigation, the man’s true identity was revealed as Dustin Ozburn, 35, of Stockton. It was determined that there hadn’t been a burglary and that the vehicle that Ozburn had been seen digging through had a release of liability to him.

When officers had their dispatcher run Ozburn, they discovered that he had a no-bail felony bench warrant out of Tracy for buying or receiving a stolen vehicle, two counts of identity theft, and possession of burglary tools. He was also on searchable probation out of San Joaquin County for buying or receiving a stolen vehicle.

Ozburn was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on the charge of falsely identifying to a peace officer, as well as his warrant.
