Man carjacked at gunpoint just outside city Monday night

On Monday, May 22nd, 2023, at 10:44 pm, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a reported carjacking that had just occurred near the intersection of W Harding Rd and S Tegner Rd, Turlock.

When deputies arrived in the area, they contacted the victim in a nearby church parking lot who told them that while he was driving his white 2022 Dodge Durango, he was approached by two men armed with handguns.

The men ordered the victim to give up his vehicle while threatening great bodily injury and he complied. One of the men got into the victim’s vehicle, while the other got into an older white sedan without any license plates, possibly a Mercedes-Benz. The duo then fled the area in their respective vehicles northbound on S Tegner Rd.

The victim’s vehicle has yet to be recovered and the suspects have yet to be identified.

The victim’s vehicle bears California license plate 9CKU405. The first suspect was described as a Black male in his late 20s or early 30s with gold earrings in both ears. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black pants, and black shoes. The second suspect was described as a Black male. He was last seen wearing a ski mask and a black sweater.

The victim’s vehicle was a push to start and the victim retained his key fob, so it’s possible the vehicle was left somewhere after the suspects turned it off and were unable to turn it back on.

Deputies checked the area from both on the ground and in the air, however, were unable to locate anything. The information was disseminated to nearby agencies to be on the lookout.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information that could assist in it is encouraged to call the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office at 209-552-2468.
