Man crashes stolen vehicle in police pursuit Tuesday night

On Tuesday, January 26th, 2021, at approximately 9:40 pm, a Turlock Police officer patrolling W Main St got a hit on his LoJack device alerting him of a stolen gray Toyota Tacoma in the area. He notified dispatch and other officers saturated the area within a minute to begin a search for the vehicle.

One of the officers checking the area noticed a vehicle matching the description in the area of W Main St and N Tully Rd. The officer attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, however, the driver failed to yield and a chase ensued. The driver got onto northbound State Route 99 and drove approximately 6 miles until crashing in the median near the Mitchell Ave exit. At points during the chase, speeds reached over 100 miles per hour.

The driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision and was rendered medical care before being booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of flight from a peace officer threatening public safety, possession of stolen property, driving while suspended, and possession of a stolen vehicle. He has been identified as Andrew Breckenridge, 29, of Atwater. In addition to the Turlock Police Department, the California Highway Patrol and Stanislaus State Police Department also assisted in the pursuit.
