On Monday, November 30th, 2020, at approximately 5:20 pm, the Turlock Police Department received a call of an injury vehicle collision in front of the Venice Motel located at 1114 N Golden State Blvd. Officers were dispatched along with American Medical Response and the Turlock Fire Department.

Officers arrived on scene within minutes and located a 52-year old Hispanic male in the road that had suffered major injuries. Life saving measures were performed on scene by officers and paramedics. The patient was transported to a local area hospital by ambulance where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Turlock Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) was notified and responded to the scene to handle the investigation. The investigation caused road closures for approximately five hours while investigators examined and collected evidence.

The investigation revealed that the driver of a 1994 Ford Van was travelling southbound on N Golden State Blvd when he struck the pedestrian who was walking westbound across the street. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with police during their investigation. The department did have multiple recent contacts with the pedestrian where he was intoxicated, however, at this point, speed, alcohol, or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.

The pedestrian has been identified by police as Lennie Hanslovan, 52, of Turlock.
