At about 10:47am Monday, Turlock Police Officer Lupe was flagged down at Travelodge in the 200 block of W. Glenwood Avenue.

Housekeeping employees had found a man in a bathtub full of water with clothes on, who was unresponsive possibly due to an overdose.

Turlock Fire and American Medical Response were requested, although the man was displaying obvious signs of death. This was confirmed by AMR medics a short time later and the man was declared deceased.

The man was later identified as Tony Ramirez, 55, of Turlock.

“Due to some suspicious circumstances, detectives responded to assess the scene,” said Sergeant Cervantez. They later determined there was likely no foul play involved.

A deputy coroner responded to the scene to take possession of Ramirez’s body.

An official cause of death has yet to be determined.
