Man in possession of narcotics arrested after identifying self as brother Wednesday night

On Wednesday, June 1st, 2022, at 9:59 pm, a Turlock Police officer near the intersection of Bernell Ave and S Orange St, Turlock, observed a vehicle violate the California Vehicle Code, so he made a traffic stop on it.

The officer made contact with the vehicle’s driver, Tony Fagundes, 31, of Turlock and attempted to identify him. He gave his brother’s name and date of birth.

Officers immediately knew that Fagundes was lying because his brother is ten years younger than him, weighs much more than him, and has different hair and eye colors. Fagundes eventually came clean when confronted and properly identified himself. He was determined to be on post release community supervision and probation.

A search of Fagundes’ vehicle was conducted which led to the discovery of narcotics.

Fagundes was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of possession of a controlled substance, false personation, possession of methamphetamines, violation of post release community supervision, and violation of probation.
