On Monday, November 21st, 2022, at 11:44 pm, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with injuries in front of a residence in the 1200 block of Geer Rd, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a man later identified as William Hanson, 36, of Turlock, down in the roadway with a weak pulse and the vehicle that had struck him gone.

Officers immediately began chest compressions and were relieved by firefighters minutes later. Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts, Hanson had suffered major injuries which he succumbed to at the scene around 12:05 am.

The Turlock Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene to process it, which required both southbound lanes between Twentieth Century Blvd and Wayside Dr to be closed until just before 4:00 am.

Originally, the involved vehicle was believed to be a silver SUV, however, that information has since been updated to a white 2000s Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon. It’s unknown which direction the vehicle went after the collision, however, it was headed southbound prior to it.

It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred, besides the fact that Hanson was in the roadway outside of a crosswalk in the southbound lanes.

The investigation remains on-going. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is encouraged to call Officer Richard Fortado at 209-664-7399.
