Man injured after woman makes U-turn in front of his vehicle Saturday evening

On Saturday, August 20th, 2022, at 5:42 pm, the Turlock Police Department, Turlock Fire Department, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported vehicle collision with injuries in the 300 block of W Hawkeye Ave, Turlock.

When crews arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved. One was a Kia hatchback, while the other was a Ford sedan.

Both vehicles only had a single occupant, their drivers, one of which suffered minor injuries while the other suffered moderate injuries. The one who suffered minor injuries refused to be transported to the hospital while the one who suffered moderate injuries was ground transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital.

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were deemed inoperable as a result of the collision, requiring them to be towed away.

Officers began investigating and determined that one of the drivers was traveling westbound on W Hawkeye Ave, while the other was traveling eastbound. The one who was traveling eastbound decided to make a U-turn and did so directly in front of the one who was traveling westbound. The driver that was traveling westbound was unable to avoid the collision.
