At about 9:40pm Wednesday night, Turlock Police, University Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a traffic collision with injuries at N. Golden State Boulevard and W. Christoffersen Parkway.

When units arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved, one of which was split in half.

The driver of the split vehicle, later identified as Codie Osborn, 32, of Turlock, was trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters.

Once Osborn was extricated, he was transported by American Medical Response to a local hospital with major injuries, but not before officers noticed signs of him being under the influence of alcohol.

“Due to his injuries, the report will be forwarded to the DA for review,” Police Spokeswoman Dominique Sanchez said.

Osborn’s dog was also injured and was transported by officers to Taylor Veterinary Emergency Hospital. According to a Facebook comment by someone claiming to be Osborn’s sister, the dog succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the other involved vehicle only suffered minor injuries and refused to be transported to the hospital.

Both vehicles sustained major damage and had to be towed away from the scene.

It’s currently unknown how the collision occurred.
