Man killed after being struck by vehicle Monday morning

On Monday, March 15th, 2021, at approximately 6:50 am, the Turlock Police Department received a call of an injury vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at W Monte Vista Ave and Dels Ln. The Turlock Police Department responded along with the Stanislaus State Police Department, American Medical Response, and the Turlock Fire Department’s Battalion 4, Squad 32, Engine 33, and Engine 34.

The first arriving officer found an unresponsive 27 year old male with major injuries laying in the roadway. He and an off-duty firefighter began doing CPR until relieved by the first arriving fire unit. Once an ambulance arrived, the victim was immediately loaded onto it and transported to a local area hospital where he was later unfortunately pronounced deceased. He has been identified as Anthony Eric Gonzales, 27, of Merced.

The driver of the vehicle that struck him, a 41 year old female of Denair in a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe stayed on scene and was cooperative throughout the course of the investigation. At this point, alcohol, drugs, nor speed do not appear to be a factor in this collision.

The investigation remains on-going.
