On Monday morning, just before 1am, two suspects forced their way into a Turlock/Hilmar area house on the 10,000 block of Tegner Avenue with handguns, according to the Merced Sheriff’s Department.

After forcing the door open, they confronted the residents. During the incident a 70 year old Hispanic male victim was shot multiple times and killed. A second victim was shot with non-life threatening injuries.

The motive for the incident is still under investigation, but so far detectives have not located any large sums of money or indication there were narcotics present at the residence.

The only descriptions of the suspects at this time by the Merced Sheriff’s Department are that they are either light skinned Hispanic or Caucasian males. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Merced County Sheriff’s Detective Division at (209) 385-7472.
