Man Killed in Single Car Accident; Alcohol Suspected

A Ballico man was killed in a single-car accident while traveling southbound on Santa Fe Avenue, north of East Avenue near Turlock on Sunday.

The man, whose name has not been released yet, was traveling at an undetermined speed southbound on Santa Fe Avenue. The vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup, traveled off the east side of the roadway and collided with a barbed wire fence.

According to California Highway Patrol, the pickup overturned multiple times after traveling off the east side of the roadway.

CHP also reported that the male was not wearing a seatbelt, and was ejected onto the east gravel shoulder of the roadway.

The vehicle came to rest on the east of the roadway on its wheels, facing west.

CHP and the Stanislaus County Coroner pronounced the man deceased at the scene. CHP also reported that alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the collision.
