Man on post release community supervision arrested after fleeing from police Sunday afternoon

On Sunday, September 26th, 2021, at 4:00 pm, a Turlock Police officer in the area of Fast Stop Groceries and Liquor, 301 W Canal Dr, Turlock, spotted Ramon Flores, 29, of Turlock, sitting in a vehicle in front of the business. The officer recognized Flores and knew that he was on post release community supervision, so he got out with him to conduct a compliance check.

When Flores noticed the officer approaching him, he began to flee eastbound on foot to the 200 block of W Syracuse Ave. Officers momentarily lost Flores, but shortly later discovered that he had jumped a fence into the backyard of a residence.

Officers surrounded the residence and ordered that Flores surrender, however, he refused to do so. Officer Hiram Duncan, a member of the department’s Hostage Negotiation Team who just happened to be on scene, began talking with Flores over the fence, eventually convincing him to peacefully surrender.

When Flores surrendered, a search of him revealed that he was in possession of methamphetamine and ammunition.

Flores also told officers that he felt like he was about to have a seizure, so American Medical Response was requested to respond for a check out.

After Flores was medically cleared by paramedics on scene, he was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of resisting a peace officer, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
