At about 9:08pm Tuesday night, Officer Khounlivong observed a vehicle in the 100 block of Almond Avenue and ran its plate, discovering that it had been reported stolen out of Ceres.
A high-risk stop was conducted where the vehicle’s driver was detained in handcuffs at gunpoint.
The vehicle’s driver was identified as Jose Cortez, 35, of Ceres, who was discovered to be on probation for domestic violence inflicting corporal injury and post release community supervision (PRCS) for fleeing from a peace officer in a vehicle with disregard for the safety of persons or property.
Cortez was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on charges of driving or taking a vehicle without the consent of its owner, receiving a stolen vehicle, and violation of post release community supervision.
The vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.
